At Claas in Bad Saulgau, machines for forage harvesting and headers for the forage harvester, which proudly bears the name " Jaguar ," are developed, tested, and manufactured. More staging area was needed at the assembly lines. Bito assisted with the switch to the large SL 86 hoppers.

The heart of the Jaguar – the chopping unit – comes from Claas' southernmost production site in Germany. In addition to state-of-the-art production facilities, the Bad Saulgau site houses one of the world's most advanced test centers for forage harvesting technology, as well as the Claas Group's competence center for tractor implement automation. Around 750 employees work here, out of a total of approximately 11,900 employees across the entire group.
More space for assembly
The machines are manufactured in parallel on seven different assembly lines, with all the parts required for production readily available at each workstation. Only a small buffer warehouse separates goods receiving from the assembly area. Meanwhile, the variety of parts increased, with many components being heavy or fragile. The goal was to increase capacity within the same footprint and ensure a stable flow of parts all the way to assembly.

The SL 86 large containers have now replaced the previously used wire mesh boxes, making more efficient use of the available space . With a load capacity of up to 500 kg, they are suitable for heavy metal parts and protect in use in internal and external supply chains
Generous interior volume
The SL boxes, measuring 800 x 600 mm, are half-pallet size, meaning that two SL 85 containers can now fit in place of one wire mesh box. The SL 86 large-capacity containers are stackable, allowing for more boxes to be placed in the same area. The generous internal volume allows for the storage of significantly more components than before.

The SL 86 opens fully to the front across its entire width, ensuring easy access to the goods even in the tightly packed GLT warehouse at Claas Saulgau. Jürgen Stauber, Logistics Manager at Claas in Saulgau, explains: “ Using the Bito SL 86 large containers has given us significantly more storage space for the ever-increasing variety of parts on our assembly lines. (…) This has saved us considerable costs that we would have had to invest in expanding our production facility to gain the necessary storage capacity. (…) It offers a large internal volume despite its small footprint, is easy to clean, and provides excellent protection for our steel parts. ”
