Vacuum technology makes mobility possible
Compressed air has traditionally been used primarily for fixed installations. Schmalz's vacuum grippers also mainly operate with lines that often have to run across halls and facilities. However, mobile robotics increasingly requires flexible solutions – a need that Schmalz now intends to address more effectively.

New chain belt sorting
At LogiMAT, conveyor technology provider Interroll attracted attention with a new chain-belt sorting system developed after the acquisition of Sortteq. Together with MCP Play, this creates a material flow ecosystem that combines single-item transport with intelligent sorting.

State-of-the-art hospital care
Gilgen is promoting its mecom container technology at this year's LogiMAT trade fair, among other things. This technology has been implemented at the University Hospital of Basel. Five kilometers of conveyor technology connect buildings and wards with high efficiency. Retrofitting and modernization are the specialty of the experts from Oberwangen.

Radical acceleration
, operational time at the loading dock is a crucial phase. The interface between warehouse and truck has always been a logistical bottleneck. Europa Systems recommends telescopic conveyors that reach up to 21 meters deep into the truck.

Ferag: Upside down in the center
At LogiMAT (March 24-26, Stuttgart), the conveyor technology specialists at Ferag will be showcasing sorting systems that also serve as buffer storage, energy-efficient systems for transporting goods over longer distances, and further software solutions beyond their in-house «ferag.doWarehouse».

There's a grinding noise in the gears
Interroll is experiencing another personnel reshuffle. Ayhan Demirel, who only became Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the globally active conveyor technology provider from Ticino at the end of 2024, has left the company, and Johannes Van Der Beek has resigned as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Ulrich Engenhardt will take his place.

Mobile loading and unloading systems
Anyone who has ever loaded and unloaded one or more containers at a parcel service's distribution center knows the problem: heavy boxes, awkward positions, exhausted employees. Schmalz's "Destuff-it" and "Restuff-it" conveyor systems provide a solution and pay for themselves faster than you might think.

Car wash with accelerator
Conveyor technology provider Frei is celebrating the modernization and expansion of the container conveyor system at the Migros cooperative in Lucerne – with a focus on performance, automation, and future-proofing. The new conveyor lines can handle up to 2,400 containers per hour.

Interroll acquires start-up
Conveyor technology provider Interroll has acquired a Dutch start-up founded and operated by two highly qualified entrepreneurs. The Dutch company has developed an innovative chain belt sorter that complements and expands Interroll's existing sorter platform.

Smartly dropping at the workplace
It sounds like a relaxation therapy, but it actually has ergonomic advantages. " SmartDrop " bags, specially developed for the SSI Carrier pocket sorter, enable automatic unloading of goods above workstations along the overhead conveyor system, reducing manual intervention to a minimum.

Optional with lifting unit
A new mobile platform called the KMP 250P from KUKA's AMR portfolio can transport goods and components weighing up to 250 kg and can be optionally equipped with a lifting unit. Cleanroom and ESD versions enable its use in specialized applications.

Underground and aboveground
It sounds a bit like Miniatur Wunderland, the "world's largest model railway" in Hamburg's Speicherstadt. "Everything will be flexible, dynamic, and adaptable," promises Lars Bergmann with his "Fluid Factory," which uses underfloor magnetic technology.

"At your feet!" at the handover point
Mobile transport robots save employees long distances and support workers in assembly. "Many are aware of the advantages – what's missing is an understanding of which transport processes are suitable for automation with mobile robots," explains Gérôme Stemmer, Head of Sales at Safelog. And he goes on to explain the range of possibilities.
greenhouse gas emissions reduced

Interroll presents some interesting figures in its 2024 sustainability report. According to the report, the company, which employs 2,393 people, consumed 33.7 GWh of electricity (53% of which came from renewable energy sources). With a turnover of CHF 527 million, this resulted in approximately 403,000 tons of CO2 equivalents. The facts and background information are explained in detail over 68 pages.
Modular with new control system

Interroll's "Modular Conveyor Platform" (MCP) has been well-known since 2013 and is in use thousands of times. With "MCP Play," there is now an autonomous control solution for modular container and carton conveyor technology, designed to allow 40% higher throughput and improve energy efficiency.
Gilgen expands ALSO logistics

At its Emmen location, the Swiss information and communication technology provider ALSO operates its Swiss logistics center, offering customized specialized logistics in the B2B and B2C sectors. Together with Gilgen, the expansion of the logistics center, originally built in 2009, was recently completed.
