Switzerland earns every second franc abroad, and in manufacturing, the figure is as high as 80 percent, a large portion of which comes from the tech industry and international trade. This makes the dialogue on intellectual property all the more important. The next round of talks is planned for spring 2025 in China.

Packaging artist in management
Packaging technicians, or "packaging managers" in modern German, are increasingly focusing on ecological and economic aspects, protection, logistics, and marketing in the development and optimization of packaging. The Swiss Packaging Institute is launching its next training program on June 8th.
80 percent train drivers

Yesterday, SBB christened a locomotive with a QR code at Zurich Central Station. Anyone who scans the code is transported into the driver's cab using augmented reality. SBB wants to use this to raise awareness of the train driver training program, which will soon also be available part-time.

In the Swiss logistics scene, which has been subject to some memorable twists and turns, the case of Wolfgang Stölzle, the head of the Institute for Supply Chain Management at the University of St. Gallen, is making headlines. There is talk of plagiarism at the institute and "incompatibilities." A "Rayon" ban has even been imposed.

From eCMR to the ML Toolbox, numerous open-source components from the Silicon Economy pool are now ready for (industrial) use. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) will present them in detail at two community events.
Professional pack management
Packaging protects the packaged goods, serves as an advertising medium, and must be easy to handle. Material and production costs play a role, and recycling is becoming increasingly important. The Packaging Institute (SVI) trains professionals who design packaging and plan production at both specialist and management levels.
200 young talents on board
Forklift manufacturer Still employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide. Over 200 young people are currently completing their training and studies at Still across Germany in seven apprenticeships and nine dual study programs. Seventy-one began their careers at the beginning of September.

At the invitation of Dachser Switzerland, experts from purchasing, distribution, logistics and supply chain management, as well as from academia, met in Biel to discuss the challenges of digitalization and automation in logistics – and new findings from psychology and brain research.
Handle loads professionally
Slinging loads isn't one of the easiest tasks when transporting valuable materials by crane. Incorrect handling can have serious consequences. On September 22nd, a half-day course at Sulser Academy in Otelfingen will teach important fundamentals.
