Serge Frech has been successfully involved in the business operations of Swiss Logistics (ASFL SVBL) for some time now – and as of January, he has taken over as Managing Director from Beat M. Duerler. Duerler will remain President of the Vocational Training Association for the time being.

The automation provider invites customers to its customer day on September 25th at the logistics center of medical device manufacturer IVF Hartmann at the Rhine Falls in Neuhausen, focusing on goods-to-person solutions, adaptive storage and transport technology, and the software and service offerings of Dematic.

As of September 1st, Serge Frech will be the newly elected director of ASFL SVBL. Christian Pauli (photo), who is also managing director of the Swiss Association for Temperature-Controlled Logistics, has taken over the management of the Romandie region at the training association "Swiss Logistics by ASFL SVBL".

Switzerland earns every second franc abroad, and in the industrial sector, this figure rises to 80 percent, largely in the tech industry and international trade. This makes dialogue on intellectual property all the more important. The next round of talks is planned for spring 2025 in China.

Packaging engineers, or "packaging managers" in modern parlance, are increasingly focusing on ecological and economic aspects, protection, logistics, and marketing when developing and optimizing packaging. The Swiss Packaging Institute will launch its next training course on June 8th.

Yesterday, Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) christened a locomotive with a QR code at Zurich's main train station. Scanning the code provides an augmented reality experience, placing the user in the driver's cab. SBB aims to raise awareness of the training program for train drivers, which will soon be available on a part-time basis.

In the Swiss logistics scene, known for its many memorable upheavals, the case of Wolfgang Stölzle, head of the Institute for Supply Chain Management at the University of St. Gallen, is making headlines. Allegations of plagiarism at the institute and "incompatibilities" are circulating. He has even been banned from the "Rayon" network. 

Restricted airspace

The commercial use of drones is increasing. With the introduction of the new EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) regulations, the requirements for drone operators have also changed in Switzerland. The TCS offers training courses with professional providers.

From eCMR to ML Toolbox, numerous open-source components from the Silicon Economy pool are now ready for (industrial) use. Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) will present them in detail at two community events.

Packaging protects the goods, serves as an advertising medium, and must be easy to handle. Material and production costs play a role, and recycling is becoming increasingly important. The SVI Packaging Institute trains professionals who design packaging and plan production at specialist and management levels. 

Forklift manufacturer Still employs around 9,000 people worldwide. Over 200 young people are currently completing their training and studies at Still across Germany in seven different apprenticeship programs and nine dual study programs. Seventy-one of them started their careers at the beginning of September.

Swiss Logistics Forum, will take place in Yverdon-les-Bains on November 9th . The focus will be on future challenges in transportation that necessitate a comparative analysis of transport routes and a reorganization of logistics.
