Mobile loading and unloading systems

Anyone who has ever loaded and unloaded one or more containers at a parcel service's distribution center knows the problem: heavy boxes, awkward positions, exhausted employees. Schmalz's "Destuff-it" and "Restuff-it" conveyor systems provide a solution and pay for themselves faster than you might think.

Schmalz offers a solution that achieves three goals simultaneously: increased productivity, improved working conditions, and measurable cost advantages. Smart technology is needed that boosts productivity while simultaneously reducing strain on the back. This is precisely where the mobile "Destuff-it" and "Restuff-it" conveyor systems come in.

These ergonomic solutions are ideal for companies that handle large volumes of containers daily. "Destuff-it" assists with unloading, while the bidirectional "Restuff-it" version loads and unloads freight boxes using the same conveyor belt. Both systems adapt to specific requirements and are particularly advantageous in confined spaces : inside containers and truck cargo holds.

Adaptable

Employees use these systems to sort different items at the end of conveyor lines, while the goods are automatically transported further. Operators can use the systems to efficiently and professionally palletize packages, boxes, sacks, and luggage. They are particularly suitable for unpalletized and unsorted goods. With a throughput of two containers per day, the machine pays for itself in less than two years. This significantly reduces overtime premiums during peak periods and considerably improves dock utilization.

The operator platform, which moves with the system, can be raised to a height of 699 mm, allowing access to every package – whether at the very bottom or high up. The system head, which is movable in all directions, adapts to any position on the container wall. The platform has a load capacity of 250 kg, while the conveyor belt itself can handle loads up to 75 kg. With a width of 610 mm and a speed of 3.7 meters per second, the "Destuff-it" and "Restuff-it" systems can transport up to 2,000 cartons per hour from the container. The operator controls the machine via an easily accessible console.

The conveyor systems are self-propelled and can be easily moved from loading bay to loading bay. Both conveyor systems offer high availability during peak periods; downtime is rare. This is ensured, for example, by the modular belt, whose wear parts can be replaced quickly and easily.

Safety guaranteed

Sophisticated safety features protect operators during operation. Before a person is trapped, the system detects the obstruction and stops the conveyor belt. LED strips illuminate the area and reduce tripping hazards. According to the manufacturer, a study by Ohio State University, USA, demonstrates that the conveyor system significantly reduces strain on shoulder and back muscles, measurably increases employee satisfaction
