Invigorating exchange between Bern and Zurich
December 17, 2025
On January 28th and 29th, "Logistics & Automation" will once again open its doors at Bernexpo in Bern. The leading Swiss trade fair for (intra)logistics, materials handling technology, and warehouse automation, along with Peter Spycher, President of the Swiss Intralogistics Association (ILS), will showcase future approaches to corporate logistics.

Mr. Spycher, after its success in Zurich with over 4,000 visitors, "Logistics & Automation" 2026 is returning to Bern. What makes Bern such a special location as a the switch between these two economic centers offer
Spycher : The rotation between Bern and Zurich ensures that the trade fair reaches different regional target groups. In Bern, we encounter more visitors from western Switzerland, while Zurich attracts primarily professionals from eastern Switzerland. This rotation strengthens the to position itself equally visibly in both
ILS President P. Spycher.
Despite occasional voices questioning the value of trade fairs, we are convinced that personal encounters remain indispensable. Direct exchange, shared experiences with technologies, and spontaneous dialogue cannot be fully replaced digitally. Trade fairs offer a space where relationships are forged, innovations become tangible, and trust is built – and that is precisely why they will continue to be an integral part of industry communication in the future.

The ILS joint stand in 2026 will feature around 20 renowned exhibitors – including Fanuc Switzerland, Stäubli, Knapp Logistiksysteme GmbH (Switzerland), and TGW Systems Integration. What exactly can visitors expect at the ILS stand, and how does this joint presentation differ from individual exhibitors?
The particular added value of the ILS joint stand lies in the fact that leading companies in the industry are presenting themselves together, thus sending a strong signal for logistics in Switzerland . Despite the competitive situation, the exhibitors are standing side by side.
Joint appearance of the industry
They demonstrate that the economic well-being of Switzerland and the further development of intralogistics take precedence over individual interests. This united stance gives the ILS association a modern, credible profile – as a neutral, strong voice for the industry.

The joint stand will serve as a meeting point for exchange, orientation, and inspiration. Visitors will gain a concise overview of the industry's innovative strength, while individual member companies will also present their latest developments at their own booths within the trade fair. This creates a unique blend of a shared platform and in-depth, individual expertise.
Opportunities and discussions
The focus is primarily on AI, robotics, and AGVs – technologies that are rapidly gaining importance and are fundamentally shaping intralogistics. At the ILS booth, expert talks, demonstrations, and discussions will take place, showcasing how these solutions can be used in practice and the opportunities they offer companies.

At the joint booth, ILS will present the latest developments in robotics, automation, and warehouse technology. What are the highlights of this central hotspot for intralogistics professionals?
Within a compact area, visitors can move from booth to booth and gain concentrated, first-hand expertise in finding solutions. The comfortable coffee area also offers opportunities for interactive exchange and personal discussions with experts.
Focus on the whole
particularly noteworthy that even direct competitors operate side by side and use the same platform without prioritizing their own economic interests – the focus is on the industry as a whole.

Each booth offers exciting new products and practical solutions. Autonomous mobile robots, AI-driven warehouse management, and digital twins are shaping the industry discussion. Which of these technology trends will be particularly in focus at "Logistics & Automation" 2026, and where do you see the greatest innovation potential for Swiss SMEs?
In Switzerland, there is almost always a willingness to integrate new technologies. This allows for the exploitation of synergies and the unlocking of previously untapped potential. The combination of robotics with autonomous transport systems (AGVs) is gaining particular importance. Initial approaches already demonstrate that robots will be able to travel flexibly on self-driving vehicles to where the work actually needs to be done – instead of the work having to be brought to the robots.
