Time-sensitive freight will certainly not be delivered by stand-up paddleboard (SUP) in the future, even with the support of Kiel-based extreme athlete Michael Walther. An "Atlantic mission" supported by Gebrüder Weiss focused instead on the climate-neutral return transport of the nonetheless emission-free watercraft.

After his Atlantic crossing was aborted, the custom-made stand-up paddleboard of Kiel-based extreme athlete Michael Walther has arrived back in Germany. Gebrüder Weiss organized the return transport by sea freight from Fuerteventura to Hamburg – climate-neutral thanks to a certified insetting process that directly reduces CO₂emissionsin the transport chain.
Signs for marine conservation
Walther wanted to send a message about ocean conservation with his solo mission across the Atlantic. After about 1,000 kilometers, he had to abandon the journey due to a collision with floating debris. To ensure the mission's impact continues, the board will be used in marine research.

The aforementioned insetting process involves the use of sustainable fuels to make air and sea freight transport more environmentally friendly. In land transport, Gebrüder Weiss is increasingly focusing on alternative drive systems such as hydrogen, electric, or gas.
in sea and air freight relevant alternatives to fossil fuels for operating aircraft and container ships This offers significant potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Against this background, the logistics service provider based in Vorarlberg offers the possibility to book Sustainable Aviation Fuel or Sustainable Marine Fuel for selected transports.
