AutoStore in chill mode
September 13, 2024

AutoStore is launching a multi-temperature solution that allows for the integration of multiple temperature zones, ranging from -25°C to a chilled zone, within a single cube. Goods are retrieved at the ports in the chilled area instead of the frozen food area, creating a more pleasant working environment for employees.
In addition to the multi-temperature solution, an 18-level grid, a motorized service vehicle, and enhancements to the Cube Control software are also being launched. "We are particularly proud of the introduction of the multi-temperature solution, which offers a significant advantage especially for food retailers and opens up additional application possibilities," says Parth Joshi, CPO at AutoStore.
With the multi-temperature solution, frozen products are removed from the coldest point, significantly improving handling during order picking and significantly increasing efficiency – particularly beneficial for food retailers. Initial installations of the multi-temperature solution were implemented by StrongPoint at Haugaland Storhusholdning in Norway and by Swisslog at La Réserve des Saveurs in France. The multi-temperature solution is expected to be available for order starting in the first quarter of 2025.

With the 18-level grid, the vertical reach is extended from 16 to 18 levels for the 330 mm high bin and from 24 to 26 levels for the 220 mm high bin. This allows the utilized space to be reduced by up to 11 percent while increasing storage density by up to 12.5 percent without the same footprint.
The new motorized service vehicle facilitates work on the grid during routine inspections and maintenance. It ensures greater system reliability while also increasing employee safety.
With the further development of the Cube Control software, AutoStore is improving its practical applications. Superusers can now proactively address problems during breaks or outside of working hours, thus turning unforeseen downtime into planned maintenance work. "Since joining AutoStore three months ago, I have witnessed firsthand how we are moving toward an exciting Product 2.0 strategy," explains Parth Josshi.

"Our goal is to solve more complex problems using robust technologies and intensive customer feedback. With around 70,000 robots in use and growing, we are looking toward a promising future." Further details on AutoStore's growth plans will be announced at the upcoming Capital Markets Day on September 18, which here .
