A "CNA" in Nuremberg, which sees itself as a think tank for mobility, transport, and logistics, is currently exploring bookable loading zones due to the lack of stopping options for delivery vehicles and delivery drivers in metropolitan areas. This smart online concept was tested in Hamburg in a project called "SmaLa."
Post abandons notime courier service

In mid-2020, Swiss Post acquired notime AG, having previously held the majority share. However, the same-day delivery service remained a niche product. It is now scheduled to be discontinued at the end of September 2025.

Effective August 1, 2024, Michael Löckener has been appointed Managing Director of Operations at trans-o-flex Verwaltungs GmbH. The company manages the various trans-o-flex companies in Germany and Austria that specialize in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

From a bird's eye view, "My Falkenried" is certainly the more airy location: Galaxus Germany grew by 57 percent to €286 million in net sales in 2023, even though the overall market was shrinking. The German subsidiary of the online retailer Digitec Galaxus is moving to Hamburg's city center.

Smart Pedal Vehicles (SPVs) are increasingly in demand. Switzerland already has some leading models, such as the robust electric vehicles from Kyburz. Germany still has some catching up to do. Munich-based startup CIP Mobility, which has been nominated for the IFOY, is focusing more on "lightweightness."

A new 89 kWh battery gives the electric version of the Ford Transit a range of up to 402 km for inner-city and regional delivery traffic, with a 28% increase in battery capacity. Charging from 10 to 80 percent of full capacity can be reduced to 28 minutes.

"Flagship" with dream values
With a cooling capacity of up to 4.5 kW – not much more than twice that of a standard domestic fan heater – Thermo King offers the new all-electric E-500e for delivery trips in low- and zero-emission zones and diesel-prohibited zones.
Siemens charging stations for the US Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has begun equipping its sorting and delivery centers with charging stations for its planned fleet of more than 66,000 electric vehicles. This is part of the modernization of an overall rather aging delivery fleet as part of the ten-year "Delivering for America" plan.

Wolfgang P. Albeck is stepping down from his duties as CEO of the express service provider, which specializes in the healthcare, cosmetics, consumer electronics, and other sensitive goods sectors, and is moving to the Supervisory Board. Geodis CEO Thomas Kraus will take over on an interim basis.
Dock at variable height
With a new docking variant, the loading platform, a U-shaped chassis, can be pivoted vertically using hydraulics. The driver raises the container to the desired height for loading or unloading, while the U-frame remains locked and always horizontal during lifting and lowering.
Fireworks of ideas
There are now around 3,000 three-wheeled electric delivery vehicles, similar to those used by Swiss Post, even in Australia, built by Kyburz. The business has long since expanded worldwide. The latest model is a DXC V2X, which can handle gradients of up to 30 percent.
E-cargo bike with charging bay
Inventiveness was one of the key features at this year's congress of the German Federal Association of Logistics in Berlin. This included a cargo bike from e-cargo bike and last-mile specialist Rytle with a forklift update. Presented by former Hyster-Yale professional Timo Antony.
Shaping a lower-emission future
The Swiss Green Economy Symposium in Winterthur, which took place midweek, was well attended by well-known faces and key stakeholders from business, industry, and politics. Covering a wide range of topics, including circular economy, nutrition, healthcare, and transportation, the event was well-organized.
Second solar ship route
Since October 2022, DHL has already delivered more than 50,000 parcels in Berlin by solar ship in a carbon-neutral manner. Now, together with its partners, Berlin port and storage company BEHALA and the shipping company Solarwaterworld, the service is being expanded with a second solar ship.

Spanish transport provider TLX is the first company to use Thermo King's new VX Series refrigeration units in two electric last-mile delivery vehicles. The two MAN vans will handle last-mile deliveries in Elche, Alicante.
Need for urban logistics hubs
According to figures from identification and labeling experts Zetes, global parcel volume is expected to double by 2026. At the same time, there is a shortage of 400,000 truck drivers in Europe. 68 percent of companies report that delayed or failed deliveries represent a significant cost factor for their operations.
