Goal-oriented in the laundry warehouse

What could be improved in the handling of elegant lingerie on a pan-European level? "Don't over-automate," cynics might advise a brand that, according to its own advertising, provides "pleasant moments" . Geek+ ventured into this sensitive topic.

Founded in Amsterdam in 1886, Hunkemöller partnered with Geek+ on a large-scale warehouse automation project that now supports stores worldwide. Based in the Benelux countries – where Geek+ has already completed over 15 successful implementations – the system utilizes robots operating on a 4,600 m² elevated platform, developed and implemented in collaboration with logistics partner Anera. It's a striking example of how automation is transforming global retail – not only through the transport of goods, but also by creating what they call "meaningful moments" through intelligent handling.

Geekplus implemented its automated order fulfillment system at Hunkemöller's Dutch distribution center, providing a shelf-to-person solution to meet increasing demand. The state-of-the-art warehouse in Almere now features more than 150 P800 robots, 30 picking stations, 738 shelves, and four putaway stations. "We needed a scalable, intelligent automation solution to support our fast-paced business and growing product range"said Nick Gresham, CFO at Hunkemöller. "Geekplus impressed us with its proven expertise in retail logistics and its innovative, flexible order fulfillment solutions."

 

Walking distances minimized

 

The mobile robots, deployed on a 4,608 m² mezzanine level developed by Anera, bring entire shelves directly to employees – minimizing walking distances and maximizing efficiency. The system is ideal for the fashion sector with its high inventory levels and enables fast and precise order processing. At the same time, it supports Hunkemöller's retail growth and digital-first strategy. This project is a cornerstone of Hunkemöller's digital expansion strategy and enhances customer service through a personalized, data-driven, and efficient approach. It also aligns with the brand's purposeful message: "Creating important moments together."
