Waiting times, empty runs, and excessively long idle times are the bane of operators of large fleets of industrial trucks. The startup "MotionMiners" will be presenting its sensor-based fleet analysis at LogiMAT from March 19th to 21st, in Hall 8.
Sascha Kaczmarek, co-founder of MotionMiners: "What operators usually lack are reliable key performance indicators (KPIs) on vehicle movements in order to improve efficiency. In practice, this has been something of a black box."
MotionMiners' solution measures the movement data of forklifts, walk-behind walkers, or route vehicles using a set of up to three sensors per vehicle. This data is then analyzed comprehensively using AI via a web-based platform
This set allows companies to build their own solid foundation of primary data. The basis is the "Vehicle Logger" sensor, which records the vehicle's movements. Two additional sensors can be optionally attached to the forks. These can measure fork travel time/lift height or empty/fully loaded journeys.
“The data is collected over an average period of two to three weeks. For example, at our pilot customer, a forklift manufacturer, our sensors recorded a total of 1,650 data hours from 24 vehicles within ten days,” explains Kaczmarek. To locate the fleet, Bluetooth transmitters (beacons) are also placed in the warehouse. Approximately 200 beacons are required for an area of 20,000 to 40,000 m². For outdoor areas, MotionMiners additionally uses GPS tracking.
An analysis is worthwhile starting at around five vehicles and can be scaled upwards as needed, says Kaczmarek. "We can also equip fleets with over 100 units and are completely manufacturer-independent." Initial optimization measures from the pilot projects included changing the fleet structure by replacing underutilized or underutilized vehicle types.
MotionMiners' established product analyzes employee movements for efficiency and ergonomics. According to the company, MotionMiners has completed over 200 projects in this area of sensor technology.
