Fewer vehicle orders

November 10, 2023

Jungheinrich reported record highs in revenue and net income for the third quarter, but a noticeable decline in vehicle orders. For 2023, the company anticipates total order intake of between €5 billion and €5.4 billion (2022: €4.8 billion) and revenue of roughly the same amount.

Over the course of the year, the economy cooled significantly, particularly in Europe and the USA. At the same time, geopolitical risks increased even further. Across all business segments, Jungheinrich's order intake for the period from January to September 2023 amounted to €3,873 million, 8 percent higher than the previous year's figure of €3,594 million. "Cumulatively, however, our order intake remains above the previous year's level," says CEO Lars Brzoska.

Group revenue (not identical to the number of vehicle orders) for the first nine months is reported at €4,020 million, an 18 percent increase over the same period last year (€3,397 million). New business was the primary driver of this growth. In addition to strong new vehicle sales, revenues of €136 million from the Storage Solutions Group, acquired this year, including €67 million in the third quarter of 2023, also contributed to this development.

The total number of employees in the group increased by 1,262 in the nine-month period, reaching 20,845 (previous year: 19,583). A large part of this increase was attributable to the well-known acquisitions of the Storage Solutions Group and Magazino, and the start of production at the new plant in the Czech Republic.

Jungheinrich is standing by its forecast for the current fiscal year, published at the end of April. The assessments regarding the company's expected development have not changed significantly since then.
