Jungheinrich has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative as a "Sustainability Enabler" in intralogistics. Currently, over 700 suppliers are regularly surveyed regarding their adherence to human rights, environmental protection, and compliance. The goal is for 80% of these suppliers to be classified as sustainable by 2025.
The United Nations Global Compact initiative for responsible business conduct is based on ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. By joining the initiative, Jungheinrich commits to integrating these principles into all aspects of its business activities and demonstrating this to the United Nations in the form of an annual progress report. "We want a sustainable economy for a better world," explains CEO Lars Brzoska.
As a "sustainability enabler," the company contributes to the sustainable transformation of intralogistics with energy-efficient products and supports its customers in achieving their climate goals. Jungheinrich ceased all production of internal combustion engine forklifts in March of this year and has since been producing exclusively electric industrial trucks.
