“Hydrogen in all its facets is complicated,” says Axel Poblotzki, CEO of the company Hydrogentle. Forklift manufacturer Still, in cooperation with the engineering firm, plans to launch its own 24V fuel cell system in 2023, making its vehicles “Fuel Cell Ready.”.
According to company management, this makes Still the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) on the European market to produce fuel cell systems as so-called "Battery Replacement Modules" in its own manufacturing facility. "Fuel cell technology is currently certainly our most innovative pillar," explains Frank Müller, Head of Brand Management at the Hamburg-based company. Hydrogentle is a company specializing in custom plant engineering, conducting feasibility studies, and advising customers on hydrogen infrastructure. "With the support of these hydrogen specialists, we can now offer a comprehensive fuel cell solution," says Müller. Comprehensive in the sense that users only need one point of contact to be "Fuel Cell Ready" with high-quality industrial trucks. "Fuel cell, service, and the entire hydrogen infrastructure," Müller adds, "all come from a single source.".

The value chain from hydrogen production to refueling is long and complex. Different suppliers and trades need to be coordinated. Hydrogentle is developing practical solutions for this. "The cooperation between our two companies will significantly simplify consulting, infrastructure development, and the operation of fuel cell-powered forklifts for our customers," says Müller. The collaboration with Hydrogentle is the final and crucial step in aggressively bringing fuel cell technology to market. "Fuel Cell Ready," similar to "Li-Ion Ready," means that customers can choose between different energy carriers without having to commit to a specific vehicle from the outset.
