Advance into New Zealand

May 15, 2022

Jungheinrich has no need to revise its figures. The forklift manufacturer reported what it describes as "business performance in line with expectations" for the first quarter. At the same time, the company acquired its 41st direct sales subsidiary, ITS Forklifts, based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Industrial Truck Sales New Zealand Forklifts (ITS Forklifts) will now operate under the umbrella of the Hanseatic company. Jungheinrich, in turn, intends to distribute its entire portfolio through the existing ITS sales network and local partners in New Zealand. For Jungheinrich, the strategic acquisition of ITS Forklifts represents an expansion of its direct sales network in the Asia-Pacific region. ITS Forklifts has been Jungheinrich's exclusive partner in the region for more than 25 years.

ITS Forklifts, for its part, has established a strong position in the New Zealand market and has a recognized and well-established network of over ten partner dealers. The existing dealer relationships with Jungheinrich will be strengthened and further expanded.

At Jungheinrich itself, order intake, sales, and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased compared to the previous year, despite strained supply chains and material shortages. The war against Ukraine, which Russia began at the end of February, is causing significant uncertainty for the European and global economies, and consequently for Jungheinrich's business performance. Against this backdrop, the adjusted forecast for 2022 remains unchanged. In the first quarter, order intake increased slightly to €1.33 billion, while sales rose by 10.7 percent to €1.06 billion.
