What does the superhero have to do with DHL? Not much – apart from the fact that mail and parcel carriers often perform remarkable feats to deliver millions of packages to their destinations every day. Well-timed: A special stamp featuring the superhero is being released to coincide with the theatrical release of the new Superman film.
The Superman movie opens in German cinemas on July 10th. Following Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther, Superman is the sixth superhero to appear on a postage stamp as part of the Superman series. The stamp, with a face value of 95 cents, is available in sheets of ten with gummed adhesive. The print run is 1.6 million stamps. A limited gold edition of 1,000 stamps is also available for €99. The stamp was designed by Deutsche Post graphic artist Jan-Niklas Kröger in collaboration with the US publisher DC Comics. The official issuer of the stamp is the Federal Ministry of Finance.
