LogiMAT is active in «robotics»

December 18, 2023

LogiMAT, Europe's largest robotics trade fair, will return to Stuttgart from March 19 to 21, 2024, and is expanding its robotics offerings. For the first time, there will be a dedicated user forum for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous driving systems (AMRs), which will be presented in five thematic blocks in Hall 6.

In cooperation with the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the Forum-FTS, under the direction of Günter Ullrich, will host five segments on current trends in automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots throughout the three days of the trade fair on the gallery in Hall 6. Visitors can engage in individual discussions with experts in a relaxed atmosphere, gain confidence in their decision-making, and prepare themselves for the diverse range of AGV and AMR providers concentrated in Hall 6.

“FTS/AMR applications are sometimes complex and challenging, which is why users need to be informed,” Ullrich explains, highlighting the added value for visitors. “The new Mobile Robotics User Forum complements the offerings of manufacturers at their exhibition stands with a neutral, individually tailored source of information.”.

Experts from member and partner companies provide neutral and professional information, advice, and planning on the topic. The new "Mobile Robotics" user forum at LogiMAT focuses on selecting suitable solutions and their proper handling. The user forum is also supported by other companies, institutes, and organizations such as employers' liability insurance associations, the Fraunhofer Institutes IML (Dortmund) and IPA (Stuttgart), DEKRA (Ulm), and the Chair of Materials Handling, Material Flow, and Logistics at the Technical University of Munich.

Topic blocks

1 - Planning: In this area, the experts advise on the correct design and structuring of the project, specifications and fleet manager, as well as standardized data interfaces for communication between automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and a control system according to VDA 5050.

2 - Proof of Concept: In this section, the experts provide guidance on the technical feasibility of ideas for mobile robotics in intralogistics and on the economic viability within the respective systems of the visitors.

3 - Safety and Security: This topic block shows visitors the most important aspects regarding plant safety, personal protection, object and machine protection as well as data security in AGV projects.

4 - Technology: In this section, experts discuss the different vehicle types and designs with visitors. AGVs and AMRs are differentiated in terms of their autonomy, various navigation, vehicle control and steering systems are discussed, and differences in sensors, drives, load handling and brakes are highlighted.

5 - Special Application Areas: In the fifth topic area, experts will address specific aspects that must be considered when using AGVs and AMRs outside of intralogistics, for example, outdoors or in publicly accessible areas.
The organizers anticipate high demand and request advance registration. Registration will be activated on the LogiMAT website .
