At the trade fair duo "Empack" and "Logistics & Automation," there are companies that benefit in multiple ways from the synergies between packaging and transport systems offered by intralogistics specialists. In an interview, "Productus" CEO Andreas Harb explains why – and outlines his company's strategic dual presence.
Mr. Harb, you will be exhibiting in Bern from January 24th to 25th, 2024 at both the «Empack» and the parallel trade fair «Logistics & Automation»?
Harb: Productus and our brand partners cover the application areas of packaging systems, thermoforming machines, inspection systems, and machine knives. Accordingly, we are exhibiting at Empack for the seventh time. With the expansion of our palletizing systems, it makes perfect sense to present InterSystem's solutions directly to the trade audience at Logistics & Automation and to hold consultative discussions with customers and interested parties.

Productus is known for future-oriented solutions, including in the areas of inspection and palletizing systems. What are the advantages of layer palletizers?
Harb: In layer palletizing, the products are palletized layer by layer. This technology has the major advantage that all products are guided from the bottom and optimally positioned.
Layer palletizers are most commonly used in the food industry, but also in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical technology industries. Layer palletizing perfectly meets the diverse applications and specific requirements of these industries. With layer palletizing, cartons, trays, trays with lids, containers, shrink packs, buckets, and much more can be palletized easily and safely.
What advantages does layer palletizing offer compared to other palletizing methods?
Layer palletizing offers a number of notable advantages over other methods, making it an efficient and cost-effective choice in production:

What is the typical space requirement of your layer palletizers, and how can they be integrated into existing production environments?
With a footprint of just 5.2 m², the palletizer requires minimal space. Its modular design allows for easy adaptation to various production environments. Thanks to its compact and safe construction, no safety enclosure is needed. Therefore, the palletizer is ideally suited for existing facilities with limited space.
How long is a layer palletizer typically in use, and what maintenance and service offerings do you provide to ensure a long service life?
InterSystem layer palletizers are robust and built to last. In Switzerland, several palletizers have been in reliable daily operation for over 20 years. Thanks to their simple and straightforward design, maintenance can be carried out by the customer's own maintenance department. In addition, our service partner, FTL-Fördertechnik AG, which also offers spare parts and services, is happy to assist our customers.

Can you give examples of where Productus layer palletizers are used in Switzerland?
Over 40 palletizers are in operation in Switzerland. Many of our customers have purchased multiple systems, demonstrating their high level of satisfaction and trust. Our reference customers include the Migros Group, the Coop Group, Emmi, Hunziker, Kambly, Haco, Ospelt, Ypsomed, and many others.

At the "Logistics & Automation" trade fair, we will be presenting the five InterSystem layer palletizer lineups, with the "Flow" model being a particular addition and innovation to our layer palletizer family.
