Electrification in freight transport

July 20, 2023

J. Eberle

Many companies are ready to invest here, but still face challenges. On Wednesday, September 20th, a Lean & Green event hosted by GS1 and led by Jan Eberle in Zurich will focus on charging infrastructure for electrified freight transport.

Professor Maike Scherrer (ZHAW) will report on the project for a decentralized, grid-independent energy infrastructure for freight transport; Kostad CEO Kajetan Mazenauer will discuss the challenges of charging infrastructure from a provider's perspective; Stefan Buri from High Power Charging, Huber + Suhner, will talk about fast charging stations; and Bernhard Huber from Scania Switzerland and Käppeli CEO Mike Ritter will discuss the "Shared Infrastructure" project between Scania and the logistics service provider Käppeli.
The Lean & Green initiative was launched in the Netherlands in 2008 on behalf of the government and has since established itself in 16 European countries with over 600 participating companies. One of the initiative's strengths, besides its standardized approach to CO2 measurement and reduction, is its ongoing development by the participants. Today, companies can achieve up to 5 Lean & Green stars, as well as a European label for internationally operating companies. GS1 Switzerland has hosted the Lean & Green initiative in Switzerland since 2017. Numerous Swiss companies are already saving significant amounts of CO2 with the goal of achieving net zero by 2050 at the latest. GS1 Switzerland is the host of the initiative in Switzerland and supports the participating companies in achieving their goals.

The inspiration event will take place from 3 pm to 5:30 pm at Tanzwerk 101 in Pfingstweidstrasse.
