Not one for loud pronouncements, but always with a smile and nonetheless successful: Peter Kazander, for many years the guarantor of success of LogiMAT in Stuttgart as its trade fair director, is retiring at 67. Of course, once again only "in stages." He will continue to oversee the LogiMAT branch in China.
In 2003, the Dutch-born Kazander joined Euroexpo, a Huss Group company, as an event manager. Within 20 years, under his leadership, LogiMAT transformed from a small trade fair on Stuttgart's Killesberg into the world's leading international trade fair for intralogistics. LogiMAT now fills all ten halls of the new Stuttgart Trade Fair Center each year with exhibitors specializing in intralogistics and attracts over 60,000 trade visitors from around the globe, who come to learn about the latest products, trends, and solutions for material flow in warehousing and production, and to conduct business. Since 2015, Kazander has been Managing Director of Euroexpo and, since 2013, also Managing Director of its subsidiary Logistics Exhibitions (LEG), overseeing the continuous development and expansion of LogiMAT's international trade fairs in China and Thailand.
“He and his team transformed LogiMAT into a global champion among intralogistics trade fairs and an indispensable fixture in the logistics industry’s calendar,” said Christoph Huss, Managing Partner of Euroexpo, in tribute to the departing CEO. Thanks to Kazander’s dedication in developing the digital event platform LogiMAT.digital, LogiMAT survived the critical years of the pandemic even without an in-person trade fair. “He was always willing to explore new avenues,” Huss recalled of their collaboration.
Kazander also looks back on his successful trade fair team with gratitude and pride. "The foundation of our success has always been good teamwork in the turbulent trade fair business. With this small but highly motivated and dedicated team, we were able to achieve a great deal with LogiMAT, which will forever connect us," Kazander promises his employees.
The continuity of success is ensured. With LogiMAT 2023, the most successful trade fair since its inception, Kazander handed over his final responsibilities to Michael Ruchty, who was already responsible for LogiMAT in Stuttgart as event manager. "I have learned a great deal from Peter Kazander over the past few years. Now it's time for me to manage LogiMAT in Stuttgart on my own and fill his shoes well," commented Ruchty on his predecessor's retirement.
