The sustainability category was once again particularly well-represented with 27 entries, reflecting the demands of the times: Packaging companies must develop recyclable and reusable packaging. The large number of submissions demonstrates that the Swiss packaging industry is tackling these challenges with pioneering solutions. The jury's special prize went to Vetropack for its "Echovai" solution – the world's first reusable bottle made of thermally tempered lightweight glass.
The audience award, sponsored by the packaging trade fair Empack, went to the developers at Mibelle for their packaging solution "From ocean plastic to cult bottle - mobile phone meets #tide ocean material". For the audience award, consumers, not the jury, were able to decide who would take the top spot.

SVI Managing Director Andreas Zopfi highlighted the packaging industry's strong innovative capacity and congratulated the companies on the progressive and goal-oriented path they have taken regarding sustainable packaging. Winners of the Swiss Packaging Award automatically qualify for participation in the World Star Award of the World Packaging Organisation.
Companies can submit their packaging solutions annually in the categories of sustainability, convenience, design, marketing, technology/construction, and machinery solutions. A maximum of three packaging solutions will be nominated per category.
