Logistics is systemically important

September 7, 2022

From October 19th to 21st, the German Logistics Association (BVL) will hold its congress in Berlin. Extensive topics, including the transformation of logistics organizational structures, sustainable processes, and decarbonization, will be discussed. Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg will also be in attendance, because speed is still essential.

“We in the logistics industry all know that logistics is systemically important and ensures our supply,” says BVL CEO Thomas Wimmer. “But we also want to make this clearer to people outside our sector. Logistics can, should, and must be more assertive. Logistics is the backbone of society!”

Besides geopolitical issues, the topic of "sustainability" is becoming increasingly important. The transformation of the economy will have significant effects on the transport sector.

In the opening plenary session, Professor Katja Windt, a member of the management board of sms group GmbH, will speak about opportunities to reduce energy consumption through digitalization measures and to empower logistics managers to become active participants in a resource-conserving circular economy.
In the closing plenary session on Friday of the congress, Nico Rosberg, who, as is well known, has also been chosen as a "brand ambassador" by Jungheinrich, will address this topic in depth as an entrepreneur and investor following his Formula 1 career.
