“Coming home” to SSI Schäfer

June 17, 2024

SSI Schäfer Fritz 1

SSI Schäfer covers a broad range of intralogistics areas, from container systems and structural packaging to waste and recycling management. The original founding company, Fritz Schäfer GmbH & Co KG, previously operated under the name "Einrichtungs-Systeme" (Facility Systems) and will now also operate under the SSI Schäfer name.

The founding of "Fritz-Schäfer factory-based production of sheet metal goods of all kinds" in 1937 laid the foundation for the now 85-year history of the family business and its successful development into one of the world's largest intralogistics providers. The group's headquarters are in Neunkirchen (the headquarters of SSI Schäfer in Switzerland, not to be confused with the town of Neunkirch near Schaffhausen). In addition, there are approximately 70 subsidiaries operating worldwide and seven production facilities. The group is active in six regions (APAC & MEA, Northern Europe, Central Europe, Southern Europe, North America, and Latin America) and employs around 10,000 people. Revenue amounts to approximately €1.9 billion.

The rebranding of Fritz Schäfer GmbH & Co KG, which also includes workshop, factory, and office equipment, is intended to bring the modern SSI Schäfer brand more into focus. However, this rebranding only changes the company name; its legal structure and shareholders remain unchanged. The name change has "no legal implications whatsoever – all rights and obligations remain the same." The names of all other subsidiaries within the SSI Schäfer Group also remain unchanged.

The focus for internal systems remains on fully automated warehouses with customized service and maintenance offerings, as well as manual and semi-automated systems. In addition, the company covers all processes from warehouse management to material flow control, offering modern real-time analytics, smart data processing, and optimization algorithms to provide all the necessary tools for sustainable resource management.
