IT transports as a driver

From a bird's-eye view, "My Falkenried" is certainly the more spacious location: Galaxus Germany grew by 57 percent to €286 million in net sales in 2023, even though the overall market shrank. The German subsidiary of the online retailer Digitec Galaxus is relocating to Hamburg's city center.
Three times the space, direct subway access, rooftop terrace: Galaxus is leaving Hamburg's Altona district and will be operating from the centrally located Hoheluft-Ost district starting in September. The online retailer has outgrown its current German headquarters on Schützenstrasse in Altona. More space is needed.
The 60 employees at the Hamburg location now need more space (over 200 across Germany). Larger meetings and even spontaneous get-togethers were becoming increasingly difficult in their previous office. Therefore, Galaxus Germany has signed a lease in the "My Falkenried" complex at Hohenluftchaussee 18-20. The 924-square-meter space will offer 62 workstations, several meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace, and social areas, ensuring efficient, pleasant, and modern working conditions in the future.
Too small: Hamburg Altona
The new top-floor office is just a one-minute walk from the Hoheluftbrücke U3 subway station. The U3 ring line provides quick access to all parts of Hamburg, ensuring convenient commuting for as many employees as possible. However, the move was primarily necessitated by a lack of space: "Schützenstrasse isn't a long-term solution," says Sonja Kunz, Executive Assistant at Galaxus. "We want to offer all employees ample space, not only for their own work but also for spontaneous meetings, for example. And ideally, all of this on the same floor." Jan Wentrot, Head of Category Management at Galaxus in Hamburg, adds: "We looked at many properties, but none combined everything we wanted. Now we have the perfect solution for the coming years." The new office also meets modern sustainability standards, fulfilling the requirements of Galaxus Germany and its parent company, Digitec Galaxus. The lease is for the long term.
From September with subway connection
“Galaxus will continue its significant growth in 2024,” reports Managing Director Michael Stolle. The online retailer announced this year that, in addition to its logistics center in Krefeld, it will open a new German location in Neuenburg am Rhein. The first of two warehouses is already under construction. Galaxus plans to move into Neuenburg in 2025 and employ 1,000 people there in the medium term. Its German headquarters will remain in Hamburg, with the move within Hamburg scheduled for the end of September 2024.
