Around 3,000 three-wheeled electric delivery vehicles, similar to those used by the Swiss Post, are now in operation, even in Australia, manufactured by Kyburz. The business has long since expanded globally. The latest model is a DXC V2X, capable of handling gradients of up to 30 percent.

For three years now, the predecessor models, the DXP, have formed the backbone of Australia's electric delivery fleet. Each DXP, with its one cubic meter capacity, is equipped to transport over 100 small parcels and up to 1,200 letters. Australia Post expects continued growth in small parcel deliveries from online retailers. In Queensland alone, several hundred electric three-wheeled vehicles are already in operation, says Cyril Kyburz at the exhibitor's stand at the Transport CH trade fair. The switch from the postal service's motorcycles to the DXP vehicles, "made in Switzerland," not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also significantly increases the safety of delivery personnel thanks to their high stability.

Now, the prototype of the DXC V2X has arrived, capable of speeds up to 45 km/h and a range of up to 230 km, depending on driving style. Kyburz is presenting it at the trade fair in Bern, complete with a miniature coffee bar and a 170-watt solar panel mounted on the cargo box, which can recharge the vehicle's battery while in operation. The battery is a 540 Ah LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) type, which, according to the manufacturer, takes 5 to 7 hours to fully recharge.

Kyburz delivery vehicles are now in use throughout Europe, as well as in Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Finland. Kyburz Switzerland manufactures the vehicles in Embrach.

Last year, the company won the Prix SVC of the Zurich economic region. The circular economy also receives considerable attention in a Circular Economy Challenge. Retired delivery vehicles have been converted into stylish or imaginative food and drink trucks. Sophisticated improvements and high-tech solutions are impressive. In 2022, a "Party Express" with a self-developed "Cocktailomat" took first place.

Another team from Münchenbuchsee designed a "follower bar" for slow food, featuring a cozy wooden counter and a protective roof. Third place went to a team of students from the Mechatronics School Winterthur (MSW) with an articulated snowplow.
