The fire is left without air
The fire protection specialists of the Wagner Group have been honored with the "GIT Safety Award 2026" for their "OxyReduct F-Line." The system expands the OxyReduct process with H2- based fuel cell technology, which simultaneously ensures emission-free energy supply.

Temperature-controlled at the motorway junction
Movianto, a logistics service provider specializing in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, is setting up a new cold storage facility in Wiesloch-Walldorf this month. A photovoltaic system there produces approximately 3,100 MWh per year, more electricity than the site consumes.

Fusion reactor in creep mode
Despite all the political turmoil currently shaking the world, work on the ITER fusion reactor, in which countless nations are involved, continues – much like on the ISS. Recently, another of the 15-meter-high segments for the future plasma chamber was delivered by heavy-duty transport.

Nonstop strapping
Mosca offers a comprehensive portfolio of integrated end-of-line systems for transport packaging, strapping machines, stretch wrappers, and associated consumables. Strapping made from materials such as PP and PET is produced with increasing recycled content.

Dynamic open-plan area
Relocations often involve considerable effort. Furniture needs to be transported, boxes packed, and unwanted items disposed of. The company " Optimal Umzug " from Lachen, Canton of Schwyz, offers services tailored to the greater Zurich area.

Optio L-Series updated
Developed with the user in mind, the completely redesigned generation of low-level order pickers in the Optio L series from TMHE sets new standards. Increased platform lifting heights, low entry, and versatile model variants for loads up to 2.5 t make these devices highly sought-after helpers.

Cold chain in transition: Ambitious goals
Temperature-controlled logistics is facing an energy revolution: battery-electric trucks, long-range hydrogen vehicles, and cryogenic cooling with nitrogen are transforming the industry. Enough "material" for the SVTL to discuss future processes and alternatives at Galliker in Altishofen.

DLR expands drone defense
While Russian drones have long been surveying German bases and critical infrastructures as potential targets for their “ asymmetric warfare ” a project called CUSTODIAN (Counter-UAS Technologies for Detection, Interception and Neutralization) is now slowly gaining momentum at the DLR.

ASTAG and GS1 to go green together
The Swiss Commercial Vehicle Association and GS1 Switzerland are merging their "Lean & Green" and "We go green!" initiatives. Both ASTAG and GS1 are embracing sustainability as a triad of economy, society, and the environment.

Interoperability proven
At an " Automation Day " hosted by Agilox, insights into the current status and future direction of the robotics provider were provided, rounded off by workflows that – modeled on real practical processes – demonstrated interoperability with the AMRs together with a Fanuc robot arm and a Palomat.
Stadler with technology hub in Vienna
Stadler with technology hub in Vienna
Train manufacturer Stadler is expanding its presence in Austria. Thanks to increasing order volumes, most recently 35 additional DoSto trains, an engineering hub is to be built in Vienna. The new competence center will create 50 jobs for engineers in development, approval, and service.
With 14 long-distance trains and 21 "Kiss" trains under the framework agreement signed in 2022 for up to 186 double-decker multiple units, ÖBB and Stadler are continuing their joint renewal of Austrian local and long-distance transport. Last year, ÖBB already called off 41 Kiss double-decker multiple units under the framework agreement. The contract for the next option, with a volume of approximately €600 million, has now been signed. The new trains are scheduled to be deployed gradually starting in mid-2026.
The Kiss double-decker multiple units ordered as part of the first call-off in April 2022 will enter assembly on schedule and are scheduled for service in the eastern region of the neighboring country starting in 2026. Peter Spuhler, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stadler, sees it as a vote of confidence that the Austrians are already ordering such a large number of additional trains.

"The passenger boom at ÖBB continues: In long-distance traffic, a total of 41.6 million passengers were recorded in 2022 – we even surpassed our previous record year of 2019. We are implementing measures to further increase the capacity of our trains." ÖBB is investing in the heart of our long-distance traffic – the Railjet – and will be expanding the existing fleet for the first time with modern Railjet double-decker trains," says ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä.
As a regional or long-distance train with a high passenger capacity, the Kiss has been successfully operating from Western Europe to the Caspian Sea since 2010 – and soon also in the USA. Since the first delivery, 620 double-decker trains have been sold to 14 countries. In a wide variety of climatic conditions, in climate zones from Silicon Valley to Azerbaijan, from suburban railway to long-distance traffic, the Kiss cover hundreds of thousands of kilometers every day.
Maximum capacity
The new double-decker train offers approximately 380 seats in a four-car configuration for local transport. The six-car long-distance trains offer approximately 480 seats in first and second class and feature two catering zones. They are designed for a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
Each carriage features low-floor entrance and an optimized multi-purpose area with more space and accessibility for passengers with bicycles, strollers, or luggage. Passengers in the new Kiss also enjoy a modern interior design, comfortable seats, automatic climate control, and power outlets in every row of seats. They are also equipped with a modern information system (monitors with real-time information) and video surveillance. Dedicated wheelchair spaces are available in the middle car of the trains for passengers with limited mobility.
