On the roofs of the conveyor technology specialist Ferag in Hinwil, the installation of the announced photovoltaic system is underway, covering an area of approximately 9,000 square meters, equivalent to the size of 1.2 football fields. The work is being carried out in phases and is expected to be completed in May 2023.
The 2,632 solar modules are being manufactured by the Swiss company Meyer Burger Technology not in China, but deliberately in Germany, and are expected to generate an average of around 1.1 MWh of solar power per year. This output will then cover approximately 40% of Hinwil's own electricity needs and corresponds to the average annual consumption of 211 households.
With the commissioning of the solar power plant, Ferag says it will achieve greater independence from the electricity market. Furthermore, the solution is a low-maintenance and, above all, profitable energy source and a further step towards the consistent implementation of the sustainability goals to which the company has committed itself.
