In the Australian state of Victoria, firefighting operations have become increasingly crucial, especially in recent times, when the order to deploy is given. This rapid response time also includes buildings equipped with doors that can open to provide full access for fire engines in fractions of a second.
The station in Derrimut, a western suburb of Melbourne, was completed at the end of October 2020. It is the most modern and largest fire station built in Melbourne in thirty years. It is one of 85 FRV fire and rescue stations in the state of Victoria and, according to the "Green Star" rating system, is Australia's first five-star fire station. Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was established in July 2020. It now unites all of Melbourne's fire brigades (MFB) and the firefighters of the Country Fire Authority (CFA) under one umbrella organization. This structure ensures it meets the demands of the 21st century.
Fire Rescue Victoria serves the metropolis of Melbourne and key regional centers – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The 16 firefighters who work daily at the Derrimut station are also part of the new network. They extinguish fires, save lives, assist with incidents involving hazardous chemicals, handle complex rescue operations, and respond to medical emergencies.

Six high-speed doors from Efaflex, "Made in Germany," are part of the building's technical equipment. Four of these are EFA-SFT-S high-speed folding doors on the exit side of the building. Each of these vertically opening folding doors is 4000 mm wide and 4500 mm high. Two extra-wide EFA-STT-ÜS high-speed turbo doors (8000 mm wide and 4500 mm high) provide access to the building's entrance at the rear.
