Back in April, Dachser announced the acquisition of Brummer, the food logistics company of the same name, in order to expand its network in this area into Austria and neighboring countries. Now, the German and Austrian competition authorities have given the green light.

The German-Austrian Brummer Group is now wholly owned by Dachser and thus part of its food logistics network for the transport and storage of temperature-controlled food products. Customers are expected to benefit from uniform quality standards. The acquisition included Brummer Logistik GmbH and Brummer Logistic Solutions GmbH & Co KG – and therefore the entire operational logistics business of the Brummer Group.

As a full-service provider, Brummer specializes in transport, warehousing, and contract services for food products, including frozen goods below -18 degrees Celsius, in southern Germany and Austria. "Together with our recent acquisitions of Müller Fresh Food Logistics in the Netherlands and Frigoscandia in Northern Europe, we are now strengthening our position in Europe with Brummer," says Dachser CEO Burkhard Eling. "We are now taking our collaboration with Brummer to a new level," adds Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics and Managing Director of Dachser's Food Logistics division.

Brummer was one of the founding partners of the European Food Network in 2013, which, under the system leadership of Dachser, covers 34 countries in Europe. Brummer's logistics business comprises over 300 of its own refrigerated trucks, approximately 85,000 square meters of warehouse space, and an e-commerce fulfillment center in Sankt Marienkirchen.

In 2023, Brummer generated approximately €128 million in revenue. As part of the transaction, almost all of the roughly 950 employees at the two border-adjacent locations in Neuburg am Inn (Germany) and Sankt Marienkirchen near Schärding (Austria) will transfer to Dachser. Tonn: "However, the real work only begins now with the gradual integration into our food logistics network.".
