Eberharter & Mayr
Alexander Eberharter took over as head of the Western region at the international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss on August 1st. He succeeds Hannes Mayr (65), who is retiring after 41 years with the company.
The 44-year-old native of Tyrol can look back on an impressive career with the logistics company. After joining in 1983, he held various management positions in Tyrol until his appointment as Regional Manager West in 2018, followed by his promotion to Director. Gebrüder Weiss's West region comprises the Austrian federal states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol, as well as Switzerland. Since the beginning of 2024, Salzburg and Carinthia have also been included.
Eberharter has been with Gebrüder Weiss for 22 years. After holding various management positions at the Gebrüder Weiss site in Hall in Tirol, he took over as branch manager in Nuremberg in 2017 and subsequently became responsible for the logistics company's strategic business development in Germany. He now oversees 1,100 employees at 25 logistics locations, six of which are slated for expansion in the coming years: Pratteln near Basel, Wolfurt in Vorarlberg, Salzburg, Hall and Langkampfen in Tirol, and Maria Saal in Carinthia.
The forwarding and logistics expertise of his predecessor, Hannes Mayr, benefited not only international shippers in the western region. As chairman of the examination board for freight forwarding agents, he passed on his knowledge to generations of apprentices for decades. Furthermore, Mayr championed the interests of the industry within the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce as its long-standing chairman of the Freight Forwarding and Logistics division.
