Logistics provider DB Schenker (Switzerland) in recent put two new CNG-powered trucks into operation km, a range of are used for pre- and post-haulage as well as city logistics at the Pfungen branch.
The portal «gaz energy» (www.cng-mobility.ch ), a project of the Gasverbund Mittelland, promotes CNG with the argument that trucks with «compressed natural gas» are in no way inferior to diesel trucks in terms of performance, payload andversatility.

They emit up to 35 percent less CO2 compared to similar diesel trucks. The new vehicles run on Swiss biogas, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 85 percent. CNG burns cleaner and produces 15 percent less CO2, 35 percent less nitrogen oxides, and 95 percent less particulate matter than diesel.
As of the end of 2021, CNG at Swiss filling stations contains an average of 26 percent biogas. This proportion has been steadily increasing in recent years. arenewable energy source produced through the fermentation of organic waste such as green waste; its main component is methane. Organic waste generated in agriculture, food production, the catering industry, and households is used for biogas production.
Cleanliness is key.
By 2030, DB Schenker Switzerland aims to be CO2-neutral in its city logistics operations. Even today, two CNG-powered trucks from Santi-Trans are operating for the logistics and transport specialist, thanks to biogas supplied from the DB Schenker terminal in Pfungen, Zurich, making their journeys particularly climate-friendly.
