"Fossil-free" doesn't refer to prehistoric finds or crime series where aging protagonists play "aftermath" on the island of Gotland. Rather, it means that DB Schenker subsidiary by 2040 -engine-free .
Four electric Scania P25 distribution trucks and Scania PHEV hybrid trucks are part of DB Schenker's transition to fossil-free transport on Gotland. The goal is to become the world's leading island region in terms of sustainability. What DB Schenker is doing, it is said, is quite special: the company is tackling an entire region.

“We already operate electric vehicles throughout Sweden and know how well that works. Now we are taking the next step and investing in the electrification of our distribution network across an entire region to truly make a difference. Furthermore, we are gaining valuable insights into electrified operations in both urban areas with frequent starts and stops and in rural areas with distances exceeding 300 km,” says Viktor Strömblad, Head of Rural Operations at DB Schenker.
“It’s a good feeling to be building a fossil-free and virtually emission-free distribution network. What’s special about this investment is that we’re taking over an entire distribution area,” says Jonas Jävert, Head of Innovation & Purchasing at Schenker Åkeri. Gotland’s size is well-suited to the electrification of transport.
“We see the same potential for DB Schenker’s international truck fleet in the future,” says Scania sales chief Evalena Falck.
