ZHAW cooperates with Lean&Green

December 15, 2023

Jan Eberle, head of the Lean & Green initiative coordinated by GS1 in Switzerland, is pleased about the new collaboration; and Professor Maike Scherrer, head of the research focus Sustainable Supply Chain Management, about the combination of knowledge from research and practice.

The School of Engineering at Zurich University of Applied Sciences has decided to join the Lean & Green Initiative to make a significant contribution to CO2 reduction in transport and logistics as a partner. This guarantees the development of scientifically sound and practically applicable solutions, explains Scherrer, who has been working on the topic of "sustainable logistics" in her field for some time.

The ZHAW School of Engineering is involved in various projects in collaboration with Innosuisse and other funding institutions. Furthermore, the engineering department possesses extensive expertise that provides the Lean & Green community with access to scientific findings. In this way, the ZHAW School of Engineering contributes to achieving ambitious goals regarding environmental protection and emissions reduction.

Jan Eberle, Program Manager at Lean & Green: “Through the cooperation between Lean & Green and the ZHAW School of Engineering, our community gains a strong scientific partner that contributes important insights, for example in the development of charging infrastructures and other aspects of sustainable logistics.”

Lean & Green is a Europe-wide initiative that was launched in the Netherlands in 2008. Currently, over 600 companies in 16 countries participate. Since 2017, the initiative has been supporting Swiss companies in achieving their climate goals.

The School of Engineering is one of the eight departments of the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. With 14 institutes and centers, it is one of the leading technical education and research institutions in Switzerland.
