MIREL is a train control system developed to ensure the safe operation of railways in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. With an interface compliant with European railway standards, it is capable of integration into the European ETCS.
Siemens Mobility announces the acquisition of HMH, a Slovakia-based technology company that provides the national train control system MIREL for Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. With this acquisition, Siemens is now able to offer a complete portfolio of train control systems for the Eastern European rail corridors. HMH will remain based in Bratislava, Slovakia, and will be integrated into Siemens Mobility's Rail Infrastructure business unit.
"HMH is a strategic addition to our Rail Infrastructure portfolio and strengthens our market position. The acquisition represents an important milestone in offering comprehensive, single-source solutions to all rolling stock providers in Europe," says Andre Rodenbeck, CEO of Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure.
"Together, we can further develop our portfolio of train control systems, which have been pioneering over the past two decades. The future lies in European cross-border rail transport. With HMH as an integral part of the Siemens Mobility family, we will be at the heart of this development for the Eastern European market." “This is a big step for our future,” says Tomáš Horváth, CEO and founder of HMH.
HMH, a MIREL supplier, was founded in 1993 and has been involved in the development, production, and maintenance of train control and train protection systems since 1999. MIREL is the company’s main product.
