L. Gerig
Lucius Gerig (35) will take over as head of the Swiss division at rail manufacturer Stadler, the largest within the group, at the start of the new year, and will simultaneously join the Group Executive Board. He succeeds Markus Bernsteiner, who will take over the role of CEO of the group from Peter Spuhler.
Gerig continues the generational change initiated in the Group's Executive Board over the past few years. He has been with Stadler since 2014, initially supporting Markus Bernsteiner in building the Components division before reporting directly to then Group CEO Peter Spuhler as head of Corporate Development. In this role, he played a key part in the successful acquisition of what is now Stadler Rail Valencia SAU and the founding of the joint venture Angelstar, the cornerstone of today's Signalling division. From 2019, he served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Central Europe division. Since December 2020, he has held his current position as CFO of the Switzerland division, which he will lead as CEO in the future. Lucius Gerig holds a Master of Arts in Business Innovation from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship & New Business Venturing from the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM).
The Swiss division includes the Stadler plants in Bussnang, St. Margrethen, Altenrhein, Erlen and Salt Lake City. It employs a total of approximately 3800 people.
