Whether electric or hydrogen-based propulsion systems, satellites for monitoring forest fires, or vertically launching air taxis for urban mobility – everything is represented. The ILA Berlin, Europe's most important aerospace trade fair, opened its doors on Wednesday.
Brandenburg's Minister-President, Dietmar Woidke, and Berlin's Governing Mayor, Franziska Giffey, got a first live preview of the highlights and innovations from the approximately 550 exhibitors from around the world during a tour of the "ILA Backstage" exhibit. They paid particular attention to exhibitors such as Rolls-Royce, MTU AeroEngines, Astro- und Feinwerktechnik Adlershof, and Apus Aeronautical Engineering, as well as important research institutions.
the German capital region may not be the largest, but it is certainly the third largest aerospace competence center in Germany.

In recent years, regional stakeholders have set benchmarks for a sustainable, low-emission aviation sector. Minister-President Woidke stated, "Innovations for climate-neutral flying demonstrate that the energy transition is well underway in aviation as well. " Giffey added, "The first European aerospace trade fair since the start of the pandemic impresses us with cutting-edge technology and high-tech innovations from the international aerospace industry (...). Aerospace is one of the most important industries of the future, a growth engine, and a driver of innovation."
