The Seine metropolis is opening a new chapter in inner-city mobility. Not underground, but overhead, a remarkable piece of conveyor technology will soon transport passengers over 4.5 km from Créteil to the municipalities of Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges in just 18 minutes.

The C1 cable car, being built by Doppelmayr, is the answer to a long-standing mobility challenge in the south of Paris. This proven mobility solution will extend, link, and connect the public transport system of the Île-de-France region, relieving traffic congestion and providing comprehensive access on a new, independent level. It extends Metro Line 8 from Créteil - Pointe du Lac to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, with five stations along the route. For commuters using C1, this means no more waiting, no more traffic jams, no more travel uncertainties, but rather a predictable, smooth, and reliable journey.

Île-de-France, the most populous region of France, is a major economic area with a rapidly growing population. This inevitably impacts the spatial planning, infrastructure, and mobility situation in this densely populated region. In the Val-de-Marne department, part of the greater Paris area, residents suffer particularly from traffic congestion and overburdened roads. The current public transport system—consisting of buses that no longer meet the growing traffic demands—needed to be reassessed and adapted.
