Migros optimizes import logistics

March 3, 2026

As part of a realignment of its import logistics for fruits and vegetables, the Migros Group is pursuing a focused strategy with two hubs: the existing southern location in Stabio (TI) and a new northern location in Münchenstein with Buonvicini AG.

From 2028, Buonvicini will operate this area on behalf of Migros. Optimal processes and solutions for implementation are currently being developed.

Decisive factors for choosing Münchenstein were its location in the border region of three countries, its excellent transport connections, and the possibility of efficiently utilizing the existing infrastructure there. Furthermore, suitable alternative arrangements would be ensured for all affected employees.

Use existing platform

To create the necessary space for Buonvicini in Münchenstein, the Migros Group plans to relocate all logistics operations of the Migros Basel cooperative to the Migros Aare cooperative in Schönbühl (BE), where the existing logistics platform can be used. Negotiations for this project have begun, and the contract is expected to be finalized in summer 2026. Full implementation of the project is planned for 2030.

With this realignment, the Migros Group is laying the foundation for modern, efficient logistics that guarantee maximum freshness for customers and sustainably strengthen the Migros Group's core business.
