The Nagel-Group, headquartered in Versmold and specializing in food logistics with a location in Thayngen (Schleswig-Holstein), most recently generated sales of around €2.1 billion with 11,500 employees. Race for emission-free cooling
Foodservice providers in the United Kingdom recently put two 19-ton electric trucks with multi-temperature machines into operation, which delivered such good results that the temperature was already back to the target value after the cargo space was closed, even before the journey had started again.

It would still be too early to sound the all-clear. Nevertheless, the shrinking of the ozone hole is seen as modest evidence that it is possible to reduce climate damage through technical measures such as avoiding CFC-containing refrigerants. This is also important for temperature-controlled logistics.
Rising energy costs
The SVTL invited participants to Herznach (Fricktal) to discuss current electricity price trends, new approaches in logistics training, and innovative role models using the logistics service provider Galliker as an example.
Cold shock during order picking

Working in temperatures as low as -25°C is physically demanding. Boxes weighing up to 25 kg need to be moved with up to 200 picks per day. A single order picker often lifts up to 14 tons. Ergonomic solutions and automation are essential, as there is a growing shortage of workers for this type of job.
Freezing dynamics below freezing

Not IKEA, but ICA: The Austrian intralogistics and automation specialist TGW is building a 30-meter-high deep-freeze pallet warehouse for ICA, the market leader in the Swedish food retail sector, approximately 100 kilometers west of Stockholm. It is scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of 2026.

Seamlessly switch modes

New, self-contained, and hybrid underfloor cooling systems for trucks and trailers can seamlessly switch between diesel and electric modes to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. This allows the trucks to access environmental zones and low-emission urban areas without major difficulties.
In the beginning there was the ice house
Ice factories in Geneva and Basel were the first to produce blocks of frozen water to allow fresh produce to be transported in railway wagons. The Swiss Association for Cold Logistics was founded in 1947. Today, on its 75th anniversary, modern times are on the horizon.
Frigosuisse under new ownership

Following the construction of a state-of-the-art warehouse in Kölliken in 2018, STEF is investing again in the Aargau region these days – through the acquisition of Frigosuisse. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
