Stadler saddles up its own US division

December 3, 2024

Stadler US DivisionM. Ritter

Stadler established its US headquarters in Salt Lake City in 2016, complying with the "Buy America Act," which requires at least 60 percent of the value added in public contracts to be generated in the US. Since then, Stadler, with its current 500 employees, has regularly won new contracts there. Time for a separate "North America Division."

The Board of Directors has decided to separate the US location from the Switzerland Division and establish it as a separate North America Division effective January 1, 2025. Martin Ritter, the current Country Head, will become its new head and thus a member of the Executive Board.

After Trinity Metro in Texas (USA) ordered eight diesel-electric FLIRT trains in 2015, Stadler established its US headquarters eight years ago. The foundation stone has now been laid to further expand the plant, accommodate growth, and manufacture car bodies in the USA in the future.
In the last two months, Stadler won an order for four diesel-powered DMU FLIRTs for Trinity Metro in Texas and an order for up to 80 new trams for Salt Lake City. In addition, other Stadler vehicles, including the GTW, KISS, and FLIRT, are in operation in various regions of the USA, and Stadler is present in the North American market with a broad product range.

Martin Ritter will become a member of Stadler's Executive Board. According to the company, the organizational adjustment will not result in any changes to the employment conditions for employees in the USA.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Peter Spuhler: "Stadler's presence in the USA has developed very positively in recent years. To emphasize the importance of the market, we are now strengthening the location."
Ritter commented: "I am very pleased with the decision to manage Stadler US as a division starting in the new year. This demonstrates the importance of the location and is the result of the tremendous commitment of all employees here in Salt Lake City."
