In light of the impending flood of shipments over the Christmas holidays, DHL is also keeping its options open. This could include an early extension of its contract as global logistics partner for the Bobsleigh and Luge Association in Germany (BSD), which is to extend beyond the 2026 Olympic Games.

DHL is continuing its successful partnership with the Bobsleigh and Luge Federation of Germany (BSD) – even beyond the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The company has prematurely extended its contract with the association as its global logistics partner until the end of the 2026/2027 season. This means that the iconic yellow bobsleds will continue to be seen in the ice tracks. Thanks to extensive trademark rights, the corporate color yellow will also remain a distinctive feature on other sports equipment and the German team's sportswear. In addition to bobsleigh, the partnership also encompasses the disciplines of luge and skeleton.

"For many years, the BSD athletes have not only been a guarantee of success, but also a popular figure," says Arjan Sissing, Head of Brand Marketing – DHL Group. "They give their all in every race. Their passion, speed, and team spirit perfectly match our performance promise. We are proud to now further expand this partnership."

"Santa Claus" initially declined to comment to the press yesterday on possible new alternative routes for delivering the seasonally increased transport volume – from "across the chimney" to digitized reindeer teams. Especially since the issue could become more explosive due to climate change.

The partnership with the BSD has existed since the 2014/2015 winter season. It covers the logistics for all the athletes' equipment. For the Luge World Championships in Whistler, Canada, and the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in Lake Placid, USA, for example, DHL transports approximately 40 crates of sports equipment for the BSD. Each of these crates weighs up to one ton.

DHL also collaborates with the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF). This also adds transport services for other national federations. The various deliveries can often be combined, creating synergies.
